Auto expert warned about the danger of fake oil filter

Installing a fake or low-quality oil filter in a car can lead to contamination and increased wear of the internal combustion engine. This was stated by Alexander Sosnovsky, head of Takayama's technical marketing department, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on March 11.

The fake filter has a low-quality filter element, which will clog before the deadline set by the manufacturer and will allow oil with dirt particles to flow directly into the engine, the specialist explained.

Due to a defective check valve, oil will drain from the filter into the oil pan. This will lead to the fact that with each start, the time to achieve full lubrication will be significantly increased, which will lead to increased wear of the internal combustion engine, the auto expert warned.

Finally, since a poor-quality bypass valve may operate earlier than expected, the oil will pass through the filter element less often or later, which can lead to damage, Sosnovsky noted.

He recalled that the oil filter is an integral part of the lubrication system of a modern internal combustion engine, and not only the condition and life of the oil depends on this part, but also the reliability and quality of the engine. The filter has a certain resource, its replacement should be carried out simultaneously with the oil.

The day before, auto expert Pavel Konstantinov said that if a car has been standing still for more than a month, this can lead to a number of technical problems. For example, a car's battery may run out, oil, brake fluid, and other technical fluids may lose their properties over time, and rubber parts (hoses, oil seals, and O—rings) may lose their elasticity.

On February 29, auto expert Nikita Rodionov explained that after the winter period, it is important to check all technical fluids, since it is recommended to change engine oil more often in Russian operating conditions than indicated in the manual under standard conditions. With a winter mileage of over 7-8 thousand km, it needs to be replaced.
