Russia may increase fish exports to China in 2025

Russia may increase fish exports to China in 2025. This forecast occurred against the background of China's March 10 import duties of 10% on fish and seafood from the United States. This was told to Izvestia on March 11 in the Fish Union.
"Russia's position may strengthen both in frozen fish: pollock, Far Eastern salmon, cod, flounder, herring, and in the category of highly processed products: fillets and minced pollock. A positive situation may develop in the segment of cold—water crabs, where Russia will have only Norway as a serious competitor in the Chinese market," the association told Izvestia.
In addition, the union recalled that in 2024, Russian exports of fish and seafood to China decreased by 13% in weight to 1.1 million tons and decreased by 5% in monetary terms to $2.7 billion. But the United States exported 280 thousand tons of fish and seafood worth $1.1 billion to China last year.
Earlier, on February 10, Maxim Chirkov, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Measurements at GUU, explained the reasons for the increase in titanium exports from Russia to China in an interview with Izvestia. According to him, given the sanctions against Russia for high—tech raw materials, titanium, which belongs to this category, it was necessary to redirect to friendly markets. China, as the world's largest economy in terms of purchasing power parity, has become a natural partner for such supplies.
