FSB officers detained a resident of the Belgorod region who planned to commit a terrorist attack in the city of Valuiki and poison military personnel. This was announced on March 11 at the department's Public Relations Center.
It was established that the 49-year-old man, on his own initiative, established contact with representatives of a recognized terrorist organization in the Russian Federation, TASS reports. He also collected and transmitted data on the locations and movements of military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the border area of the region to attack them.
In addition, on the instructions of the curators, the attacker planned to commit a terrorist attack in Valuyki and poison the Russian military.
Criminal cases have been initiated on the grounds of offences under Articles 275 ("Treason"), Parts 1,3 of Article 30 ("Preparation for a crime"), part 2 of Article 205.5 ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization"), paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 281 ("Sabotage"), part1 art.205 ("Terrorist act"), part 1 art.222.1 ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, transfer or carrying of explosives") THE Criminal Code OF THE Russian Federation.
Earlier, on March 6, employees of the Russian FSB directorate for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol detained a Russian man on suspicion of publicly calling for the murder of law enforcement officers. The defendant faces imprisonment for up to five years.
