On March 13, the 112th anniversary of the birth of children's writer Sergei Mikhalkov, the grand opening of the exhibition of the military poster "Lessons of History" will take place on Gogol Boulevard in Moscow. The large-scale project was prepared by the All-Russian Public and State Organization "Russian Cultural Foundation" with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Russian Military Historical Society.

The exhibition consists of 36 political posters created during the Great Patriotic War by famous cartoonists Boris Efimov, Mark Abramov, Vladimir Dobrovolsky in a creative alliance with the poet Sergei Mikhalkov. Such drawings helped to unite society and ruthlessly beat the enemy with the sharp weapon of satire. From 1962 to 1976, these cartoons were published in special albums, but some of them were kept in family archives for a long time and were not shown to the general public.

"I learned about albums with political posters from the war and post–war period from Sergei Vladimirovich himself," says Yulia Valeryevna Subbotina–Mikhalkova, curator of the literary project of the Russian Cultural Foundation "Today are Children, Tomorrow are the People", the author of the idea, the writer's wife. – He recalled with pleasure and respect the collaboration with the best cartoonists of that time. Posters were born in different ways, but always as a response to an important event at the front or in the political life of the country. Sometimes a drawing appeared first, sometimes poetry, but they always formed a single whole in influencing the viewer and the reader."

The drawings revealed topics that were acute for the 20th century: the Great Victory of the Soviet people in World War II, the Cold War, the arms race, the struggle between communist and capitalist ideologies, and the geopolitical confrontation between the collective West and the USSR. The themes of the posters are still relevant today – they not only remind of the achievements and lessons of the past, but also warn against naivety and false hopes.

As part of the project, a mobile version has also been prepared to showcase the exhibition in enclosed spaces. Each stand is equipped with QR codes. An audio guide is available for download.

The event will be accompanied by the combined orchestra of the Moscow Cadet Music Corps. Among the guests are the wife of the writer Yulia Subbotina–Mikhalkova, the first persons of the NGO "Russian Cultural Foundation", Honored Artist of Russia Anna Mikhalkova, writer Yuri Polyakov, family members of B.Ye. Efimov, M.A. Abramov, V.P. Dobrovolsky.
