The State Duma proposed to tighten responsibility for refusing to give way to an ambulance and increase the fine several times, and a corresponding bill has been prepared. Yaroslav Nilov, the author of the document and head of the State Duma Committee on Social Policy, announced this on March 11 in his Telegram channel.,

The bill proposes to amend the Administrative Code and impose a fine for refusing to allow an ambulance in the amount of 20 thousand to 30 thousand rubles, as well as provide for the deprivation of rights for a period of three months to two years. Now, for such a violation, a fine of 4.5 thousand to 7 thousand rubles or deprivation of rights for three months to a year is threatened.

According to Nilov, the current measure of responsibility for drivers who intentionally block the path of an ambulance does not work, as evidenced by the increased frequency of media publications with similar incidents. The refusal to allow an ambulance to pass "should be considered more broadly than the usual road rudeness," the parliamentarian noted.

"This will be a more tangible and effective measure. We are waiting for the government's position to initiate consideration of the bill," Nilov wrote.

The day before, it was reported that Rosstandart had updated GOST with requirements for the design, color and coating of road signs. It banned reports about motels, campgrounds, hotels, and service stations. The new GOST 52290-2024 will become mandatory from 2026, but regions have the right to apply it now instead of the old standard 52229-2004.
