Airports in the Far North were denied subsidies for 9 billion rubles

The Federal Air Transport Agency does not have enough funds to maintain the operability of regional airports in the Far North, as stated in the materials on the results of work in 2024, which were reviewed by Izvestia. The document claims that the Federal Air Transport Agency is raising the issue of increasing funding for northern airways from 2023, but applications to the Ministry of Finance are not supported.
We are talking about seven enterprises.: "Airports of the North", "Airports of Kamchatka", "Airports of Chukotka", "Airports of Krasnoyarsk", "Amderma Airport", "Airports of the Far East" and "Kyzyl Airport". They are united into Federal State-owned Enterprises (FKP) and have a total of 82 runways for year-round use.
According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, in 2024, the northern Federal District allocated 4.13 billion rubles, which transported 1.5 million passengers. The number of sorties from them amounted to 47.42 thousand. However, this subsidy is no longer enough for 2025. In addition, 9 billion rubles a year are required from the federal budget to maintain the material and technical base of airports.
The funds were needed, in particular, for the reorganization of airfields, ensuring transport security, the creation of new branches, as well as for the purchase of equipment and modular buildings. In addition, many existing facilities require major and ongoing repairs. The Federal Air Transport Agency stressed that airports are not able to do this at their own expense.
