The cost of children's fares was proposed to be equalized with the price of a standard taxi ride

The price of travel with children in a taxi should not be more expensive than the cost of a standard fare, said Tatyana Butskaya, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood.

"We are now in close contact with all taxi fleets and taxi aggregators, and I see that we are already one step away from this decision, that the children's fare cannot be more expensive. That is, it cannot be that a person who travels with a child has to pay more," Butskaya said.

Dmitry Gusev, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Control, called it unfair that people with many children ride the subway on benefits, while they have to choose a higher-priced fare by taxi.

"We need to make sure that families with children do not pay more for taxis than other citizens," he stressed.

The Association of Parent Committees and Communities (ARCS) has proposed to focus on the tariffs with minivans that have to be called for trips with many children. The cost of such transportation is even more expensive than the children's fare. As Olga Letkova, chairman of the association, clarified, the increased prices for passengers with children raise questions, because there are no special expenses, except for special seats that cars should be equipped with.

"If taxis are forced to carry everyone on the same fare, then they can raise prices for everything. Therefore, it makes sense to actually make a tax deduction. Maybe it will be more economically profitable," she added.
