Pensioners in Transbaikalia gave more than 14 million rubles to fraudsters

The police in the Trans-Baikal Territory are conducting an investigation into fraud, as a result of which elderly spouses suffered. They lost more than 14 million rubles.

According to a 75-year-old resident of Chita, his wife received a call from a stranger who said that the woman lacked 11 months of work experience. The victim allegedly needed to recalculate the length of service. The woman agreed to dictate the code from the SMS message in order to join the "electronic queue". SakhalinMedia news agency writes about this.

Then a representative of the Central Bank allegedly contacted the pensioner. According to his instructions, both spouses transferred all their savings to "safe" accounts.

Over the weekend, 14 residents of Transbaikalia suffered as a result of fraud. The total damage amounted to more than 22 million rubles.

In the Lipetsk region, an 11-year-old girl gave more than 200 thousand rubles to fraudsters. The schoolgirl transferred funds from her mother's card.
