Lavrov to discuss safety of journalists at talks with OSCE Secretary General

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Feridun Sinirlioglu, during which he will raise the issue of the safety of journalists. This was announced on March 10 by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry on its official website.
"The Russian side intends to raise the issue of the safety of journalists and ways to increase the effectiveness of OSCE relevant structures in this area," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It is specified that Sinirlioglu's working visit to Moscow will last two days, and talks with Lavrov are scheduled for March 11.
Earlier, on February 25, the permanent mission of the Russian Federation demanded an OSCE response to sanctions against the Russian media. At that time, the organization said that the EU's decision to include new restrictions against Russian media in the next sanctions package was an illegal, politicized decision that violated "international obligations in the field of press pluralism, access to information and media freedom."
