All 37 sailors who were on board the ships that collided in the North Sea were rescued, only one of them required hospitalization. This was reported on March 10 by Sky News, referring to Graham Stewart, a member of parliament from Beverley and Holderness.
According to Stewart, 36 sailors from both crews are safe. He added that he learned about one hospitalized sailor during a conversation with Minister of Transport Heidi Alexander.
"Although we can be grateful that everyone was able to be evacuated to shore, I remain concerned about the possible environmental impact of the incident," Stewart was quoted as saying by the TV channel.
A tanker and a cargo ship collided off the northeast coast of England on the afternoon of March 10. According to the Reuters news agency, a helicopter, an airplane, rescue boats and nearby vessels with fire extinguishing equipment were sent to the scene. Sky News later reported that 32 people were injured as a result.
