The Americans believe that they will be able to push through their position at the meeting with Ukraine. This was stated by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Alexei Chepa, on Monday, March 10, speaking about the upcoming negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

On March 9, US President Donald Trump announced "good results" following a planned meeting of the delegations of Ukraine and the United States, according to the website. kp.ru .

He stressed that significant events could happen this week, RT reports.

Chepa clarified that the meeting should take place on March 11. He noted that the United States is deeply dissatisfied with the first meeting that took place at the White House, and they are trying to somehow separate the meeting of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is scheduled to meet with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia on March 10, and tomorrow, it seems, should not attend this event.

"The Americans believe that they will be able to push through their position at this meeting. There was significant pressure on Ukraine between the White House meeting and the upcoming meeting. According to the results of the first meeting and in the opinion of many American politicians, they managed to put pressure on the Ukrainian side so that today they are in every possible way afraid of a possible negative decision of this meeting," the deputy shared in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Earlier in the day, Bloomberg reported that the upcoming talks between the delegations of Kiev and Washington would be another legitimate attempt by the Trump administration to convince Zelensky of the need for a partial truce.

The article clarifies that in the future this approach will allow the parties to agree on signing a long-term peace.

If such an agreement is concluded, Washington may consider lifting the restrictions recently imposed on Kiev. In addition, the Trump administration is already negotiating to ease sanctions against Russia.

Negotiations between Kiev and Washington will be held in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Tuesday, March 11, reports NSN.

Earlier, Zelensky said on the social network X that his meeting with Trump at the White House "did not go as planned." He stressed Ukraine's readiness to conclude a deal on US mineral resources, and also expressed Kiev's intention "to sit down at the negotiating table as soon as possible." 360.ru .

A meeting between Trump and Zelensky took place in the Oval Office of the White House on Friday, February 28. During the conversation, a dispute broke out between the parties involving the Vice President of the United States, J. D. Vance. Zelensky later left the White House ahead of schedule without signing an agreement on rare earths.
