- The economist stated that it was impossible for American companies to replace Chinese companies in the US market.

US President Donald Trump's new trade duties against China are unlikely to help reorient the American market towards domestic producers, as Chinese goods are too profitable for imports. This was stated on March 10 by economic commentator Cyrus Janssen in a video posted on his YouTube channel.
"Trump's new duties against China will not lead to suppliers choosing American manufacturers. <...> The cost of labor in the United States is significantly higher than in China, and the production rate is significantly lower," Janssen said.
According to the expert, the speed, quality, efficiency and price of goods shipments from China are "too good" these days.
"The difference in production capabilities and prices between China and the United States is so huge that even duties of 100% will still not allow making a choice in favor of an American manufacturer, even if there is someone to choose from," the observer added.
According to Janssen, China is moving ahead in terms of the production of goods, and even higher duties will not stop companies from purchasing in China, products will only slightly rise in price.
On March 4, Trump doubled import duties on Chinese goods from 10% to 20%, accusing Beijing of failing to combat drug trafficking. According to him, the failure of the Chinese government to take measures to curb the steady influx of opioids, including fentanyl, into the United States poses an unusual threat, the source of which is largely located outside the United States.
