The International Fencing Federation (FIE) has allowed juniors from Russia to participate in team competitions under a neutral flag. The relevant decision was made at the meeting of the executive committee of the organization.

"Neutral teams consisting of athletes who have received the appropriate status from the FIE Executive committee will be allowed to participate in FIE junior team competitions," the federation said in an information letter dated March 10.

It is noted that neutral teams will compete under the FIE flag. The first tournament according to these rules will be the World Junior and Cadet Championships in the Chinese city of Wuxi, which will be held from April 7 to 15.

The day before, the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, called on world sports organizations to consider allowing Russians to participate in the Olympic qualification tournaments. He noted that the mission of the Olympic movement is to unite the countries of the world.
