The appointment of Igor Babushkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region, as head of the State Council Commission for the support of special operations veterans and their families will contribute to solving the tasks of the new body. This opinion was expressed on March 10 by Secretary of the State Council Alexei Dyumin.

According to him, the new State Council commission on support for participants in the special operation and their family members is needed to coordinate the efforts of federal and regional authorities.

He also recalled that the head of the Astrakhan region himself had once served in a special unit.

"His military background and successful work experience as head of the region will contribute to resolving all issues of the commission's activities," Dyumin said.

In addition, commenting on the creation of the new commission, Dyumin noted the special attention of Russian President Vladimir Putin to supporting veterans of the special operation from the moment it began. All government authorities, Russian business and many public organizations have also joined in helping the military.

"The main work is carried out by the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation," the Secretary of the State Council added.

Putin signed a decree on the establishment of the State Council's commission for the support of special operations veterans and their families on the same day. The tasks of the new body will include coordinating the work of various departments and organizations on the adaptation of military veterans to civilian life, monitoring regional measures to support participants in the special operation, as well as developing additional measures to support military personnel and their families.
