The United States hopes for progress on signing a deal with Ukraine on rare earth minerals this week. This was announced on March 10 by Stephen Witkoff, the special envoy of the American president for the Middle East, in an interview with Fox News.

He pointed to the positive signals coming from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the head of his office, Andriy Ermak, as well as from the Europeans.

"I think we are going there with the expectation that we will make significant progress. And so, of course, I hope so," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

In addition, Witkoff noted that the American side did not suspend the provision of intelligence to Kiev for defensive needs. According to him, this will be one of the topics of discussion with representatives of Kiev at the talks in Saudi Arabia.

The day before, US President Donald Trump announced that he was still waiting for the signing of a deal on rare earths.

Trump and Zelensky were supposed to conclude a deal on rare earth metals on February 28, but as a result of an altercation at the White House, the signing was canceled. Some time later, on March 2, the head of the Kiev regime said that he was still ready to sign the deal and hoped to save relations with Washington.
