According to the results of the first two months of 2025, only 1,269 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 63% less than in January-February last year. The electric car market has run out of steam, said Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, in his Telegram channel on March 10.

If in January-February of last year the share of pure electric vehicles was 1.8% of total sales, now it has decreased to 0.8%. At the same time, the Russian passenger car market declined by only 9%, he noted.

The leader of the electric car market is still the Chinese Zeekr, which is not officially represented in Russia. It accounts for more than a third of sales (36.6%). Next is the Russian Evolute (9%), and the premium Avatr rose to the third place (109 units, 8.6%). Moskvich, Ora, BYD, Voyah, Xiaomi, Tesla and Volkswagen rounded out the top ten.

According to the analyst, dealers are selling off stocks from previous years, and 98% of sales are made in 2023-2024, with one in four electric cars registered with a legal entity (25%). The share of the Moscow region in sales is almost 45%.

On March 3, it was reported that the Ministry of Construction recommended that housing developers, when developing design documentation, allocate at least 5% of parking spaces (but not less than one) for electric vehicles and hybrids and equip them with electric charging stations.

On February 4, it became known that by the end of 2024, Russian residents purchased 12.3 thousand used electric vehicles, which is 18% more than in 2023, and is a record figure. Nissan became the leader of the aftermarket of electric vehicles (4,9 thousand units): it accounted for 40% of the total volume.
