- The Russian Foreign Ministry announced its readiness to respond to London's decision on escalation.

Russia informed the British Ambassador about the revocation of the accreditation of several employees of the British embassy due to their membership in the kingdom's special services, and also warned the representative of London about a decisive response in the event of an escalation of the situation by the British government. This was announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry on March 10.
"It was emphasized that Moscow will not tolerate the activities of undeclared British intelligence officers in Russia. <...> A warning was also issued that if London escalates the situation, the Russian side will give a decisive 'mirror' response," the ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that employees who have lost their accreditation must leave the territory of Russia within two weeks. The Ministry also recommended that British citizens provide full information about themselves when applying for a Russian visa.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Federal Security Service (FSB) had uncovered two spies who worked undercover at the British Embassy in Moscow. Later, a representative of the British Embassy was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
