Lukashenko appoints Alexander Turchin as new Prime Minister of Belarus


President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Alexander Turchin to the post of Prime Minister of the Republic. This was reported by the BelTA news agency on March 10.
Until now, Turchin has served as chairman of the Minsk regional Executive Committee. In turn, former Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko became the head of the National Bank of Belarus.
Turchin later told reporters that there would be no significant correction of the economic course.
"The most important thing is to ensure the sustainable and balanced development of our country. Of course, people are at the forefront, improving their well—being," said the new head of government.
On March 3, the President of Belarus presented the composition of the new economic block of the government of the republic. It was headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov. Thus, the president has formed a team that he considers capable of solving the tasks facing the country.
