Russian President Vladimir Putin has a positive attitude towards his American counterpart Donald Trump. This was announced on March 10 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

He made the corresponding statement against the background of statements by a journalist from The Washington Post (WP) newspaper, who said that the Russian leader allegedly did not respect the US president.

"Well [treated]. You know that their phone contacts are not so frequent. Actually, they had a telephone conversation once during this presidential iteration, but nevertheless it was constructive enough to be in a dialogue and solve problems," he said at a briefing.

The presidential press secretary added that Moscow is currently at the initial stage of the road to "restoration" of bilateral relations with Washington.

"The road ahead is quite long and difficult. But at least two presidents have expressed political will in this direction," Peskov added.

During a briefing on board the presidential plane on March 10, Trump disagreed with the words of a journalist who claimed Putin's alleged disrespect for him. Upon learning that the reporter worked for WP, the US president said that the newspaper had lost its credibility.

In turn, Putin said on January 24 that their relationship with the American leader is trusting and pragmatic. He also suggested that if Trump had not been "robbed of victory" in the last election, the current crisis in Ukraine might not have happened.
