FAS fined Sberbank for inappropriate credit card advertising


The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has fined Sberbank for improperly advertising a credit card. In it, the essential conditions of financial services were indicated in a difficult-to-understand font and were demonstrated for a short time, the service said on March 10.
A new advertising campaign has been launched on the air, which focuses on favorable conditions for consumers. The advertisement offers zero fees on payments and free annual maintenance. In addition, Sberbank credit card holders can count on 10% cashback when paying for purchases at the Megamarket.
At the same time, other information was demonstrated in a difficult-to-understand way for a short time. According to the agency, consumers received incomplete information about all conditions of financial services.
The service opened a case against Sberbank, found the advertisement inappropriate and issued an order to the organization to eliminate the violation.
The FAS of Russia imposed a fine on the bank for posting inappropriate credit card advertising.
Earlier, on January 13, the FAS fined Alfa-Bank for improper advertising campaign with Yandex Food. It was reported that the joint advertisement was distributed on the air of federal TV channels. The video contained information that was attractive to consumers about accruing 50% cashback when paying for an order in the Yandex service with any bank card.
Earlier, the service recognized the inappropriate advertising of Alfa-Bank and Yandex.Food and issued an order to the companies to stop violating the federal law On Advertising.
