Lavrov called the statements of the US administration on Ukraine encouraging.

The statements made by the administration of US President Donald Trump on Ukraine are encouraging. This was stated on March 10 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with the New Regions of Russia magazine, which was published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"It's too early to draw far—reaching conclusions, but what we've heard so far from representatives of the Donald Trump administration is generally encouraging," he said.
At the same time, Lavrov said that it is worth considering the fact that Trump recognized the expansion of NATO as the root cause of the Ukrainian conflict. He also pointed to the words of American Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who spoke about the multipolarity of the modern world and the need to respect the interests of all countries.
In addition, Lavrov recalled that the Russian side supports the negotiation process between the states.
Earlier in the day, Trump promised good results of negotiations with Ukraine in Saudi Arabia. He also expressed hope for "great progress" in moving towards the end of the Ukrainian conflict. According to Trump, "various negotiations" are planned in Saudi Arabia.
