AvtoVAZ has promised not to become the only supplier of cars in taxis


AvtoVAZ is not and will not be the only supplier of cars for the taxi industry in Russia. This was stated in the press service of the company, discussing the draft law on the localization of cars for taxis.
"According to our information, the draft amendments discussed today involve the participation in the taxi purchase program of several brands produced in Russia, and of different segments," Sergey Ilyinsky, Director of Public Relations at AVTOVAZ, told Izvestia on March 10.
He pointed out the need to ensure the safety of the taxi industry so that this type of public transport could continue to provide services even with the switch off of foreign support.
The draft law on the introduction of requirements for the localization of taxi cars is being discussed in the State Duma. It was adopted in the first reading last year, and is now being prepared for the second reading. Maintaining such requirements will become an additional protection for the taxi transportation industry, Maxim Sokolov, head of AvtoVAZ, said earlier.
AvtoVAZ also noted that in 2024, Lada prices were indexed by 4.3%, which is twice as low as inflation, while taxi services rose in price by 16% in the same year.
"We expect that the FAS will complete an impartial investigation into such a high rise in taxi prices, as stated by the head of the department, and publish the data obtained, including the pricing mechanism in the taxi industry, which is completely opaque today," the company added.
On February 21, during a press conference at the Izvestia News Center on "Major changes in the taxi market," Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Artyom Kiryanov said that the cost of a taxi ride next year could increase by 15-20%.
