- Bild has learned about the possible cancellation of 3.4 thousand flights due to a strike at German airports

A large-scale 24-hour strike is taking place at 13 airports in Germany, as a result of which about 3.4 thousand flights may be canceled. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on March 10.
"About 3.4 thousand flights may be canceled, which will affect more than half a million passengers. Everyone is advised to check the status of the scheduled flight in advance," the article says.
Berlin-Brandenburg Airport suspended regular flights, and Frankfurt Airport urged passengers not to come to the terminals because they would not be able to board. It is noted that this affected 150 thousand passengers and more than 1.1 thousand flights.
Munich Airport will cancel most of about 820 scheduled flights, Hamburg has predicted delays and cancellations of flights — this has already affected 284 scheduled flights with more than 400 thousand passengers.
Delays, postponements and cancellations of flights are also expected at airports in North Rhine-Westphalia and Stuttgart.
The day before, Bild announced the suspension of Hamburg Airport operations. It was clarified that the Ver.di trade union demands an 8% salary increase, or at least €350 per month, as well as an increase in bonuses and additional vacation time.
On March 7, Ver.di called on employees of almost all German airports to take part in a 24-hour strike on March 10. Its representatives warned that passengers should prepare for massive restrictions on departure and arrival, including flight cancellations.
