The European Union (EU) is alarmed by Hungary's possible attempt to disrupt the extension of anti-Russian sanctions. This was reported on March 10 by Euractiv, citing sources.

It is noted that following the EU summit on March 6, some diplomats privately expressed concerns because Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban "did not ask for anything in return," although the bloc's member states ignored Budapest, which refused to sign the final statement at the meeting.

"The diplomats stated that, in their opinion, Budapest is saving its strength for a major battle next week — an important decision on the extension of the EU sanctions package," the article says.

According to Euractiv, it is impossible to extend sanctions without Hungary's consent.

On February 28, Edgar Naujok, a member of the German Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, raised the possibility of Berlin blocking the introduction of EU sanctions against Russia and China.

On the same day, a survey by the Stop Sanctions movement was published, which showed that the German residents' fatigue index from sanctions against Russia, China and Iran has reached its maximum — currently it stands at 9.4 out of 10 points.
