The Ukrainian authorities plan to try to convince the administration of US President Donald Trump to resume military assistance and intelligence sharing during negotiations to be held in Saudi Arabia, the Financial Times (FT) reports, citing sources.

"Ukraine will try to convince the United States to resume intelligence and military support during bilateral negotiations, <...> convincing Donald Trump that [the president of Ukraine] Vladimir Zelensky wants an early end to the <conflict> with Russia," the article says.

Officials familiar with the preparations for the talks shared that Kiev is going to offer Moscow a partial ceasefire. According to the FT, after the "disastrous meeting" between Trump and Zelensky at the White House on February 28, Kiev changed its tactics and position.

"Now the most important thing is to normalize relations with the United States, and if earlier the plan was to first get security guarantees and then seek a cease—fire, now it is obvious that this will not happen in this order," said Ukrainian political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko.

Stephen Witkoff, the US president's special envoy for the Middle East, announced talks between the United States and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia on March 6 next week. According to him, the basics of a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and a possible ceasefire agreement will be on the agenda.

On March 10, Trump promised good results of negotiations with Ukraine in Saudi Arabia. He also expressed hope for "great progress" in moving towards the end of the Ukrainian conflict.
