Joint exercises of the Russian Federation, China and Iran have begun in the Iranian port of Chehbehar.

The joint naval exercises of Russia, China and Iran "Maritime Security Belt - 2025" have started in the Iranian port of Chehbehar. This was announced on Monday, March 10, by the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Detachments of ships of the Russian Navy, the Iranian Navy and the Navy of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) are participating in the exercise. The Russian side is represented by the corvettes "Sharp", "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov" and the medium sea tanker "Pechenga" of the Pacific Fleet.

"After the opening ceremony, which was attended by delegations from more than 10 other observer countries, in addition to the crews of the Russian Navy, the Iranian Navy and the PLA Navy, a briefing was held on the upcoming naval phase of the exercise," the ministry said.

It is specified that the crews will practice in freeing captured vessels, in search and rescue at sea, and will practice artillery firing at targets. The exercises will be conducted in the northern Indian Ocean for several days.

The department added that the international naval exercise "Maritime Security Belt 2025" is being held for the seventh time. As indicated, the objectives of the exercise are to ensure maritime security, counter piracy and terrorism at sea, as well as to protect maritime communications.

In early February, the opening of the Komodo-2025 multilateral naval exercises with the participation of ships of the Russian Navy took place in the city of Denpasar on the island of Bali in the Republic of Indonesia. The Russian delegation was headed by Admiral Vladimir Vorobyov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy. The final stage of the Komodo 2025 exercises took place in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Indonesia at the end of February.
