- On Sakhalin, the director of a construction company stole 24 million rubles from eight clients

On Sakhalin, the director of a construction company who stole 24 million rubles from eight clients, which he took as an advance payment, but was not going to start fulfilling his obligations, will appear in court. This was announced on Monday, March 10, by the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sakhalin region.
"It was established that in the period from 2021 to 2024, the man signed contracts with eight residents of Sakhalin for the construction of private houses for them and received an advance payment from each of them. However, even at the stage of signing the deal, the accused was not going to fulfill his future obligations," follows from the publication of the department in Telegram.
It is specified that after receiving the money, the entrepreneur postponed the start date of construction work under various pretexts and as a result stopped all contacts with the victims.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region said that the man transferred part of the money to his wife's bank account. At the same time, she did not know about the real origin of the money she received. The accused carried out the operation under the guise of paying for the services allegedly rendered to him. Thus, the accused was engaged in laundering the money he received as a result of fraud.
A criminal case has been opened against the 43-year-old attacker, provided for in Parts 3 to 4 of art. The Criminal Code of the Russian Federation 159 ("Fraud committed by a person using his official position, as well as on a large scale and resulting in the deprivation of a citizen's right to housing") and Part 3 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Legalization of funds acquired by a person as a result of committing a crime using his official position"). The case was sent to the court for further consideration.
Earlier, on January 12, it was reported that a criminal case had been opened in the Ivanovo region against the director and former head of the Housing and Communal Services department for abuse of office. According to investigators, officials helped three companies to obtain lucrative contracts for the overhaul of houses worth more than 550 million rubles, providing them with the conclusion of contracts on the best terms.
