The UK is instructing Ukrainian officials, preparing them for negotiations with the American delegation in Saudi Arabia. This was reported on March 9 by The Times newspaper.

"The United Kingdom advises Ukraine on peace negotiations with the United States," the publication says.

It is noted that Jonathan Powell, National security Adviser to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, came to Ukraine this weekend (March 8-9) in order to "inform" Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky before representatives of his country take part in negotiations with the United States. Thus, the UK wants to avoid a repeat of the situation in the Oval Office with the American leader Donald Trump.

According to the newspaper, Powell recommended Zelensky to negotiate with the United States in such a way as to create the impression that Russia is allegedly obstructing peace.

They added that the diplomat had a telephone conversation with Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Michael Waltz, during which he spoke in favor of resuming the exchange of intelligence between Washington and Kiev.

Stephen Witkoff, the US president's special envoy for the Middle East, announced the talks between Washington and Kiev in Saudi Arabia on March 6 on March 12. According to him, the meeting's agenda will include the basics of a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and a possible ceasefire agreement.
