American officials intend to use a meeting scheduled in Saudi Arabia with a delegation from Ukraine to determine Kiev's readiness for "significant concessions" to Russia. This was reported on March 9 by the Reuters news agency.

"According to two U.S. officials, American officials plan to use the meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in part to determine whether Ukraine is ready to make significant concessions to Russia in order to end the war," the agency reports.

It is reported that members of the American delegation also intend to pay special attention to whether Kiev is ready to normalize relations with the administration of US President Donald Trump after the altercation that took place in the White House.

"You can't [simultaneously] say 'I want peace' and 'I refuse to compromise on any issues.' We want to see if Ukrainians are interested not just in peace, but in a realistic world," one U.S. official, who spoke anonymously, told the agency.

On March 8, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed delegates for talks with the United States in Saudi Arabia. The negotiating team will include Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak, his deputy Pavlo Palisa, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
