U.S. Senator from the Republican Party Lindsey Graham (listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist) on Sunday, March 9, announced that he would soon submit to Congress a bill on the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.

"As for Russia, next week I will impose sanctions on its banking and energy sectors, calling on them to come to the negotiating table if they do not agree to a cease—fire and peace talks with the administration," Graham said on Fox News.

US President Donald Trump said on March 7 that it is more difficult for the American side to interact with Ukraine than with Russia, which holds "all the cards." He is confident that the United States is "doing very well with Russia."

On that day, former American intelligence officer and analyst Scott Ritter said that Russia was ready for possible new sanctions from the United States. According to him, the Russian Federation has taken all necessary measures to mitigate the consequences of any actions by the United States, while maintaining the opportunity to successfully implement the goals of the special operation to protect Donbass.
