The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has signed a memorandum with Diehl Defense, which manufactures the IRIS-T air defense system. This was announced on March 9 by the press service of the department in the Telegram channel.

"A memorandum of understanding has been signed with Diehl Defense, the manufacturer of the IRIS—T system, which is an important part of Ukraine's air defense shield," the ministry said.

It is claimed that the agreement provides for a threefold increase in the supply of missiles and air defense systems.

The ministry also confirmed its intention to develop the Ukrainian military-industrial complex (MIC) and "integrate it into the European ecosystem."

On March 7, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico ruled out financing Ukraine and supplying free weapons. He stressed that any aid coming to Ukraine should be provided "on a voluntary basis." Following the March 6 summit, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that the leaders of the bloc's member countries had agreed on an 800 billion euro plan for the militarization of Europe. Before the summit, she clarified that the plan provides for investments in the military-industrial complex (MIC) of Ukraine and financing arms supplies to Kiev.
