- The Norwegian national team confessed to cheating with equipment at the home World Cup

Team leader Jan-Erik Olbu admitted that the Norwegian ski jumping team tried to circumvent the rules with equipment at the home World Championships in Trondheim. This was reported on March 9 by the NRK TV channel.
"We cheated. We tried to cheat the system. This is unacceptable," he said.
Olympic champions Marius Lindvik, Johann Andre Forfang and ski biathlete Jorgen Grobak were disqualified because reinforced threads were sewn into their suits, allowing them to perform gliding flights.
Austria, Slovenia and Poland have filed a protest with the International Ski Federation (FIS) after a hidden camera video of the costumes being reshaped appeared.
As Olbu admitted, the staff knew that they were violating the rules, but decided to take the risk, as "everything goes beyond what is allowed." There is no information about whether the athletes themselves knew about the deception.
Earlier, on February 20, three-time world champion in rhythmic gymnastics Radina Tomova was disqualified for three years for violating anti-doping rules: the banned diuretic hydrochlorothiazide was found in her doping sample. The suspension will last from October 2, 2024 to October 1, 2027.
