Spartak lost to Rubin in the RPL and failed to repeat Romantsev's record streak.


Spartak Moscow football Club (FC) lost to FC Rubin Kazan in the match of the 20th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL) with a score of 1:2, interrupting a series of seven victories. The match took place away from Rubin in Kazan on Sunday, March 9th.
Albania's striker Mirlind Daku scored a double for the hosts, scoring in the seventh and 28th minutes. The ball was scored by the Argentinean midfielder Ezequiel Barco, who converted a penalty in the 42nd minute, writes Sport-Express.
Dacu was sent off the field in the 75th minute for a clash with red and white defender Alexis Daurte, who also received a red card.
Spartak is in third place in the championship with 40 points, while Rubin is in eighth position with 29 points.
FC Moscow could potentially repeat the club's record winning streak in the RPL, having achieved eight consecutive victories. This record was previously set in the August – November 2000 season under the head coach of Spartak (1989-2003) Oleg Romantsev.
Spartak will host Zenit St. Petersburg in the next round, which will take place on March 16. Rubin will play against Pari Nizhny Novgorod.
Prior to that, on March 8, Zenit from St. Petersburg beat Voronezh Fakel in an RPL match with a score of 2:0. The score was opened in the 19th minute by the Argentine forward of the guests Luciano Gonda. Colombia's forward Mateo Casserra increased the advantage of the St. Petersburg club in the 57th minute.
