Artyom Dzyuba, a forward of the Tolyatti football club Akron, scored the 234th goal of his career during the Russian Premier League (RPL) match with the Samara Wings of the Soviets. He became the top scorer in the history of Russian football. This was announced on March 9 in the club's Telegram channel.

"Artyom Dzyuba is the best scorer in the history of Russian football," the team said in a statement.

It is specified that the athlete broke the record of the former Zenit football player Alexander Kerzhakov, who had 233 goals.

Throughout his career, Dzyuba played for such clubs as Spartak Moscow, Tom Tomsk, Rostov, Zenit St. Petersburg, Adana Demirspor in Turkey and Lokomotiv Moscow. He also played for the Russian national team, where he scored 30 goals.

On March 1, Dzyuba equaled Kerzhakov in the number of goals, scoring the 233rd in his career. In the 70th minute in the away match of the 19th round of the RPL Mir, he scored a goal against Nizhny Novgorod. The match ended with a score of 2:1.

The athlete signed a contract with Akron in September last year. It was noted that the agreement was signed before the end of the 2024/25 season.
