Trump has declared a tough stance on Russia

US President Donald Trump said on March 9 that he has a tough approach towards Russia.
At the same time, he stressed that he maintains good relations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
"I was very tough, but I get along well with Putin," Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
According to the American leader, his tough approach to Russia is confirmed by the sanctions imposed during his first term as president.
Trump said on March 7 that it is more difficult for the American side to interact with Ukraine than with Russia, which holds "all the cards." He is confident that the United States is "doing very well with Russia."
On that day, former American intelligence officer and analyst Scott Ritter said that Russia was ready for possible new sanctions from the United States. According to him, the Russian Federation has taken all necessary measures to mitigate the consequences of any actions by the United States, while maintaining the opportunity to successfully implement the goals of the special operation to protect Donbass.
