The Russian air defense forces shot down 228 Ukrainian drones during the day. This was announced on March 9 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"Air defense systems shot down a JDAM guided aerial bomb and two HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems manufactured by the United States, as well as 228 aircraft—type unmanned aerial vehicles, including 99 outside the zone of a special military operation," the ministry said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry noted that since the beginning of the special operation, over 45,000 drones, 22,390 artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 32,630 units of specialized military vehicles have been destroyed.

On the night of February 26, 128 Ukrainian UAVs were launched across the regions of Russia.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Defense released footage of the Merlin-BP reconnaissance drones of the Zapad group of forces in the area of a special military operation. It was clarified that drones are unique in that they are able to correct the infliction of fire damage to objects of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
