Musk pointed to Ukraine's dependence on the Starlink satellite system

The Ukrainian army is based on the Starlink satellite system, and the front line may "collapse" if it is turned off, the head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and entrepreneur Elon Musk said on March 9.
"My Starlink system is the backbone of the Ukrainian army. Their entire front line will collapse if I turn it off," Musk wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
He stressed that the armed conflict is a "dead end" situation in which Ukraine "will inevitably lose."
On March 4, Reuters reported that the White House officially confirmed the suspension of US military assistance to Ukraine. The pause will last until US President Donald Trump sees how the Ukrainian side "demonstrates a good-faith commitment to peace."
On March 5, Reuters reported that Eutelsat was negotiating with the European Union authorities to expand satellite Internet in Ukraine. It was noted that the transition to other technologies could be difficult and deprive the Armed Forces of Ukraine of one of their key advantages on the battlefield.
The Financial Times newspaper reported on March 8 that EU government officials are looking for ways to provide Ukraine with an alternative to SpaceX's Starlink.
