A pro-Palestinian protester who climbed the clock tower of Big Ben in London was lowered to the ground after more than 16 hours spent on the sights. After the descent, he was detained by the police. This was reported on March 9 by The Independent newspaper.

The article clarifies that the man was lowered to the ground around midnight local time, after three attempts by rescuers and negotiators to persuade him to get off.

The footage, distributed by the newspaper, shows how negotiators on the lift platform point to his leg injury, noticing a large amount of blood, and also worry that his clothes are not warm enough because the temperature drops after sunset.

Later, the press service of the metropolitan police reported that the man had been arrested.

"This incident was delayed due to the specifics of the man's location and the need to ensure the safety of our employees, the man himself and the general public," the London department said in a statement.

Earlier, on March 6, it was reported that on Wednesday, March 5, about 50 pro-Palestinian protesters demonstrated in the library of the private women's Barnard College in New York. It is specified that several arrests were made, but it is not yet known exactly how many.
