Oleg Gagloev, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic, said that South Ossetia may soon raise the retirement age. This was reported on March 8 in the Telegram channel Sputnik South Ossetia.

At the moment, the retirement age of the republic is one of the lowest in the world, as in most countries it begins at 60-65 years.

"Many citizens aged 55 and 60 want and strive to continue working. Therefore, on the one hand, why not give them this opportunity?" said Gagloev.

He also stressed that this could have a positive impact on the budget of the social fund and the amount of pensions.

French President Emmanuel Macron signed the pension reform law on April 15, 2023. He proposed to move the legal retirement age to 64 years. Also on April 14, the French Constitutional Council recognized the pension reform as legitimate.
