- In the United States, scientists have reported the possibility of reviving woolly mammoths by 2028.

Scientists and specialists from the genetic engineering company Colossal Biosciences have announced the possibility of reviving the long-extinct woolly mammoths by 2028. This was reported on March 8 by The Telegraph with reference to Chief Researcher Beth Shapiro.
It is planned that mammoths will be revived by using DNA samples found from their distant ancestors in the permafrost. And an elephant from India will have to carry the cub.
It is reported that the company is currently looking for a place to breed mammoths. For this purpose, negotiations have already been held on the possibility of implementing the idea in several countries with suitable conditions.
"The ultimate goal is for these animals to live somewhere in the wild," Beth Shapiro said.
Colossal Biosciences is also currently cooperating with the authorities of Mauritius on the issue of the revival of the extinct dodo bird species.
On March 7, the "Collect an Elephant" campaign was launched at the Perm Museum of Local Lore. Within its framework, it is necessary to raise 3 million rubles for the construction of a scientific model of the skeleton of a trogontherium elephant. The model will be based on the original bones of a prehistoric animal that scientists found in the Okhansky district.
