In the United States, in the city of Southampton, the authorities declared a state of emergency due to the fires that had started. This was announced on Saturday, March 8, by the ABC7 TV channel.

"The fire started at about 13:00 (21:00 Moscow time) on Saturday and lasted until the evening. The fire is currently two miles (3.2 km) long and two and a half miles (4 km) wide," the agency said.

The Air Forces of the National Guard were deployed to eliminate the fire.

It is reported that during the disaster, one of the firefighters received a second degree facial burn. Two nearby commercial buildings were also damaged.

"We are working closely with local partners on Long Island to coordinate assistance and provide them with the resources they need to protect their communities," Governor Kathy Hokul said.

Earlier. On March 3, the governor of South Carolina declared a state of emergency in the state due to wildfires. According to the department, operations to eliminate more than 175 forest fires on an area of about 1.7 thousand hectares are continuing. The spread of the fire is mainly due to dry and windy weather.
