- Negotiators tried to convince an activist with a Palestinian flag to come down from Big Ben

Negotiators continue to try to convince the activist with the Palestinian flag, who climbed the Big Ben clock tower in London and has been there for more than 15 hours, to come down. This was announced on Saturday, March 9, by the Sky News channel.
"During the day, emergency services and negotiators talked to the barefoot man several times, but he is still standing on the ledge of the Elizabeth Tower, a few meters away, and holding a Palestinian flag, apparently in protest," the publication says.
It is specified that a fire truck was later used for negotiations, which raised the landing to the same height as the man. In this way, three people were talking to the protester, being at a short distance from him. An attempt to force a man inside is too risky, according to the police, the newspaper writes.
"I'll come down on my own terms, I said it. But for now, I'm saying that I'm safe. If you approach me, you will put me in danger, and I will rise higher," the publication quotes the activist as saying.
At the same time, the negotiators express concern about the injured leg of the man — he is bleeding. They also noted that the protester was lightly dressed.
Due to the protest, Windsor Bridge in central London remains closed to traffic and pedestrians.
Earlier, on March 6, it was reported that on Wednesday, March 5, about 50 pro-Palestinian protesters demonstrated in the library of the private women's Barnard College in New York. It is specified that several arrests were made, but it is not yet known exactly how many.
