Currently, the outskirts of the city of Suji are being actively bombarded by barrel and rocket artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Having cut off the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the supply route, the Russian Army is gradually blocking almost the entire Sudzhansky district, where several thousand AFU troops may be stationed. This was announced on March 9 by the correspondent of Izvestia, Emil Timashev.

Timashev noted that the road to Staraya Sorochina, along which the Ukrainian formations fled, had been plowed in the truest sense of the word.

The Ukrainian formations managed to build a solid defense here, but all in vain. In the distance, the last AFU firing points in Staraya Sorochyna are burning down. There is a shooting battle just a few kilometers away. The soldiers of the 34th regiment are now pressing the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the flanks.

Having liberated the village, the Russian troops advanced even further, not allowing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to come to their senses and gain a foothold.

"An example of how the Ukrainian Armed Forces fled. A whole bag of NATO grenades. Apparently, they are under-barrel. They left it right in the bag here on the road and ran on. Already light," Timashev said.

According to the fighters, it is much easier to kick the fugitives in the heels than to open fortified areas.

"It went much easier. When their supply is... well, not completely cut off... as you can see, it happens that "birds" fly, and the cannon artillery is working. But the enemy is retreating," commented a soldier of the 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment under the call sign Mars.

Following Staraya Sorochina, Russian troops liberated Nikolaevka and neighboring Viktorovka, thus almost completely closing in around Malaya Loknya.

"The enemy is as demoralized as possible. We see the enemy retreating. In Malaya Lokna, we assume that the enemy will attempt to withdraw, most likely to the Sudzha direction," said the commander of the 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment under the call sign Apostol.

On March 8, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of the settlements of Viktorovka, Nikolaevka and Staraya Sorochina in the Kursk region. In total, during the fighting in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 65.58 thousand soldiers. The operation to destroy the Ukrainian formations continues.
