Two men who abducted a teenager for the purpose of extortion were detained in St. Petersburg. This was announced on Saturday, March 8, by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.

The incident occurred on the evening of March 6. An 18-year-old from St. Petersburg and a 29-year-old resident of the Komi Republic beat and put a 16-year-old teenager in a car. They demanded 300 thousand rubles for the release of the teenager, threatening violence.

"The young man reported the abduction to his father by phone, who transferred the required amount to his son's bank card from another city," Wolf said in her Telegram channel.

After receiving the prescribed amount, the men dropped the minor off and disappeared.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Kidnapping").

At the moment, the causes and circumstances of the incident are being established, the representative of the department summed up.

Earlier, on February 28, Volk reported that law enforcement officers had detained seven members of a gang engaged in kidnapping and extortion in Moscow. One of the victims said that, at the request of a friend, he came to a cafe, where an attacker approached him and took him outside. On the street, several people struck him multiple times on the head and body. Then they introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and put him in a car.
