An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 was recorded near the Ryukyu Islands in Japan. This was announced on March 8 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
It is claimed that the epicenter of the tremors was located at coordinates 28.696, 130.235. The source of the tremors was at a depth of 22 km.
At a distance of 321 km from the epicenter was the Japanese city of Kagoshima with a population of 550 thousand people.
Earlier in the day, an earthquake of magnitude 6-7 occurred in Armenia. According to the country's Interior Ministry, the earthquake was felt in Lori, Shirak and Tavush regions with a magnitude of 4-6, in Kotayk, Gegharkunik and Aragatsotn regions — 2-4. There is no information about casualties or damage.
