- Iran's supreme leader refused to discuss the nuclear deal under pressure from the United States

Iran will not negotiate a nuclear deal under US pressure. This was stated on March 8 by the Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during a meeting with senior officials and the military.
"Some bully governments insist on negotiations not to solve problems, but to dominate and impose their own expectations," he said.
In particular, as Khamenei clarified, the "bully" states can use the negotiations to pave the way for further demands on Tehran not only on the nuclear issue, but also in other areas.
"Iran will definitely disagree with their expectations," he concluded.
A day earlier, US President Donald Trump said he had sent a letter to the Iranian leadership expressing hope that it would agree to negotiate a nuclear deal. He stressed that Washington cannot allow the emergence of another nuclear power in the person of Tehran.
On February 4, Trump signed a memorandum on national security, which, according to him, exerts "maximum pressure" on Iran's nuclear program. At the same time, he expressed the hope that the United States would not have to implement the provisions of the document in practice.
