In the Urals, the mother of a newborn baby left on a bench in the cold was found using DNA

Investigators found and interrogated the mother of a newborn baby left on a bench in the cold in Nizhny Tagil. This was announced on March 8 by the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC) in the Sverdlovsk region.

It is specified that on March 4, a child was found near one of the entrances in Nizhny Tagil, and he was taken to the hospital. A criminal case was opened on this fact under Part 3 of art. 30, art. 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder of a newborn").

According to the agency, an epithelial sample was taken from the baby to determine its genotype, which was then compared with the available DNA database. The test results showed a match with the genetic code of a woman from Nizhny Tagil who previously had a criminal record. Experts have suggested that she may be the child's mother or sister.

"She was found and interrogated by an investigator of the Investigative Committee on the circumstances of the criminal case. The woman confessed that she was the one who gave birth to the baby and decided to get rid of it, leaving it on the street," the department's Telegram channel says.

Currently, the woman has been hospitalized due to a severe postpartum condition. In the near future, it will be decided which measure of restraint to apply against her.

At the end of February, a student of the Kansk Polytechnic College gave birth to a baby in the dormitory toilet, after which she put it in a trash can and went to the shower. The newborn's body was found by the student's neighbors, who reported the incident to the dormitory teacher. A criminal case was opened into the incident on the grounds of a crime under Article 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder of a newborn child by a mother").
