- Vulin called the purpose of the protests in Serbia the desire of the West to push the country against Russia.

The West uses the protests of students and oppositionists in Serbia to further pit Belgrade against Moscow. This was announced on March 8 by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin.
According to him, the ongoing protests have no social background, it is "not a movement for a more just or successful society."
He clarified that a color revolution is currently taking place in Serbia, the purpose of which, as Vulin notes, is to overthrow the government and establish a government that will impose sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as nationalize the "Serbian Oil Industry" (NIS).
"The West wants to push Serbia against Russia forever, and this is the main goal of the color revolution, which we are opposing and which we must defeat for the sake of Serbia and Russia," the deputy prime minister said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The reason for the start of anti-government protests by students and the opposition since November 2024 was the death of 15 people as a result of the collapse of the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad. After the tragedy, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic resigned.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called his dismissal "just the beginning" on November 5, predicting a series of resignations in the near future. So, on January 28 of this year, amid protests and a split in society, the country's Prime Minister Milos Vucevic resigned.
