Russia is ready for possible new sanctions from the United States. This was announced on March 7 by former American intelligence officer and analyst Scott Ritter.

"I am almost sure that the Russians have taken all necessary measures to mitigate the consequences of any US actions, while maintaining the opportunity to successfully achieve the goals of their special military operation," he wrote on his page on the social network X (former. Twitter).

Ritter also stressed that the administration of US President Donald Trump has made it clear that the next anti-Russian sanctions will be aimed at Russia's energy sector.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said on March 6 that the United States would be ready to "go all in" and impose new sanctions on the Russian energy industry in order to end the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, He also added that the new Trump administration intends to use economic sanctions "unequivocally and aggressively."

On the same day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said there were no discussions between the Russian Federation and the United States on the lifting of sanctions. She stressed that Moscow has repeatedly warned that restrictions are destructive and illegitimate.
