As a result of flooding in the port province of Buenos Aires, Bahia Blanca, 10 people were killed. This was reported on March 8 by the newspaper La Nacion.

The identities of the victims have not yet been established, the authorities have not ruled out the possibility of an increase in the number of victims. According to the newspaper, as a result of the storm, more than 400 mm of precipitation fell, and a significant part of the city was flooded.

Mayor of Bahia Blanca Federico Susbielles on the social network X (ex. Twitter) confirmed that the situation is critical. According to him, more than 1,000 people were evacuated from the flooded areas.

"From the very beginning of this tragedy, we have been working together with the municipal equipment and resources of the army, firefighters, Buenos Aires police, civil defense and the naval Prefecture to be able to reach every victim," he said in a published video message.

In turn, Economy Minister Luis Caputo said that 10 billion pesos had been allocated to repair the damage.

The governments of Argentina and the province announced a rescue operation to help the victims the day before, the Reuters news agency reported. Local media reported that heavy rains were washing away cars, felling trees, and also contributing to power outages. According to meteorologists, a new storm front is expected to hit.
